Evan Drellich, from The Athletic, did a superb job outlining the major issues and hurdles facing MLB owners and the players’ union while they try to hammer out a new collective bargaining agreement.

If, it appears, a lockout or shutdown is indeed a cold, hard reality, with a substantial number of games cancelled, I hope the major networks, ESPN, FOX Sports, etc., would give serious consideration to broadcasting professional baseball from Latin America, Japan, Canada, Italy, among other countries and global regions.

About 15 countries outside the United States have professional baseball played domestically.

It would, at least, open a new window for the American audience to become familiar with budding talent outside of the United States, and will give leagues and players, outside of the U.S., some worldwide exposure that they normally wouldn’t receive.

Provided there aren’t any restrictions placed on players, I think it would also be pretty cool, if some of the big boppers and flamethrowers from MLB would be permitted to go on barnstorming tours throughout the U.S.

Just a thought!
