Just to add some extra drama to the Yankees-Red Sox rubber game on Sunday night , comes a report, originally posted by The New York Post on Friday, that a construction worker planted a Red Sox jersey in the Yankees new stadium under construction.
As soon as team officials learned of this unsportsmanlike transgression, they unearthed the jersey, pulling it from the rubble, which showed a soiled no. 34 Sox jersey, the number of Boston first baseman, David Oritz.
The Associated Press reported the construction worker suspected of planting the jersey as being Gino Castignoli , based on tips authorities gathered from anonymous sources.
No word yet if any criminal charges will be filed against the suspect, a Bronx resident, whose name shows up on a Kings County District Attorney press release website, after being arrested at 416 E. 118th Street in Manhattan, and charged with three counts of illegal internet gambling when 13 sites operated by the Gambino family organization in 2002 were raided.
Is it just a coincidence the Yankees haven't hoisted a World Series flag since Big Papi landed with the Sox?
