The Blue Jays and Dodgers enter Game 5 tied at two games apiece. The loser of this game will be a loss away from losing the World Series as it swings back to Toronto for Game 6 and a possible Game 7.
Dodgers’ pitcher Blake Snell hopes to make amends for his rough Game 1 start after taking the loss and giving up five runs on eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts.
Toronto will send rookie Trey Yesavage, they’re no. 1 prospect back to the mound.
In Game 1, he pitched four innings and avoided getting roughed up by limiting the Dodger damage to two earned runs while striking out 5 and walking three. The winning pitcher was Seranthony Dominguez in the Blue Jays 11-4 pounding of the Dodgers.
• The winner of the fifth game of the World Series has gone on to win the Fall Classic 68 times (68.9%), including 65 times (68.4%), under the best-of-seven format.
• Since MLB introduced its balanced schedule in 2023, the Blue Jays are 5-4 over the Dodgers, winning four of the last six matchups by taking two games of both three-game series in 2024 and 2025.
• The Dodgers are the first defending World Series Champions to return to the World Series since the Phillies in 2009.

• The Dodgers ace, Blake Snell, has made four starts this Postseason, allowing seven runs on 14 hits with eight walks and 32 strikeouts. Snell started Game 1 of the Wild Card series against Cincinnati on September 30th, Game 2 of the NLDS against Philadelphia on October 6th, Game 1 of the NLCS against Milwaukee on October 13th, and Game 1 of the World Series against Toronto.
• Snell will face the Blue Jays for the 19th time in his career and third time this season after previously facing them 18 times as a member of the Rays, Padres, Giants and Dodgers.

• Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was named Most Valuable Player of the 2025 ALCS. He is the first Canada-born player to win any Postseason MVP Award (WS, ALCS or NLCS). He joined Paul Konerko of the White Sox in 2005 as the only first baseman to be named ALCS MVP.
• Guerrero’s seven homers are the most in a single Postseason in Blue Jays history.
• His 14 RBIs are also the most in a single Postseason in Blue Jays history, surpassing Molitor’s 13 in 1993.
• Freddie Freeman has reached base safely in each of his last 19 Postseason games dating back to Game 1 of the 2024 World Series, surpassing Chris Taylor (2017 NLDS G1-2018 NLCS G2) for the longest on-base streak in Dodgers’ Postseason history.
• Freeman’s walk off in Game 3 was the sixth time ever that the Dodgers won a World Series game in walk-off fashion.
• There has now been at least one walk-off win in each of the last three World Series with Adolis García also hitting a walk-off home run in Game 1 of the 2023 Fall Classic.
• Shohei Ohtani is the first player in Postseason history with multiple home runs, multiple doubles and multiple walks in a single game and just the second player ever to reach those marks in Baseball history.
