
Weary from last night’s 18 inning marathon, the Dodgers meet again Tuesday for Game 4 of the World Series with last night’s star Shohei Ohtani taking to the hill against Shane Bieber for Toronto.
• The winner of the fourth game of the World Series has gone on to win the Fall Classic 86 times (71.7%), including 83 times (69.1%) under the best-of-seven format.
• Overall, the winner of Game 4 of a Postseason series has gone on to win the series 225 times (73.5%).
• The Dodgers are 25-26 all-time in Game 4 of a Postseason Series, including 13-20 in Game 4 of a best-of-seven series overall, and 13-9 in Game 4 of the World Series.
• The Blue Jays are 8-4 all-time in Game 4 of a Postseason series, including 6-4 in Game 4 of a best-of-seven series overall, and 2-0 in Game 4 of the Fall Classic.
• Last night’s game marked the second game in Postseason history and the first World Series game that each club had at least 15 hits, joining Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS between the Yankees (22 hits) and Red Sox (15 hits).
• According to Elias, 44 players (batters & pitchers) were used in Game 3 (23 by TOR, 21 by LAD), marking the second-most in a World Series game.
• Bieber has made three starts this Postseason, going 1-0 with a 4.38 ERA, allowing seven runs on 16 hits with three walks over 12.1 innings.
• Bieber started Game 3 of the ALDS against the Yankees and Games 3 and 7 of the ALCS against the Mariners.
• Will face the Dodgers for the second time in his career after facing them once in 2022 as a member of the Guardians.
• Bieber went 2-1 in three starts away from Rogers Centre this year, pitching to a 3.93 ERA.
• Recorded more strikeouts on the road in less innings pitched compared to home starts.
• Bieber made his first start since April of last season on August 22nd after returning from injury.
• Went 4-2 with a 3.57 ERA across seven starts.
• Factored into the decision in six of his seven starts, pitching at least 5.0 innings in each appearance.
• Bieber is one of five active pitchers to have won the Triple Crown, and one of four pitchers on the World Series rosters to have won the Cy Young award.
• According to Elias, this year’s Fall Classic will mark the second time in Baseball history in which the combined rosters will feature four-or-more Cy Young Award winners.
• Ohtani made his first career Postseason start in Game 1 of the NLDS against Philadelphia and started game 4 of the NLCS against Milwaukee.
• Ohtani earned the win in both, pitching 12.0 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with four walks and 19 strikeouts.
• He will face Toronto for the fourth time in his career after previously facing them three times as a member of the Angels from 2021-22.
• Ohtani Is 2-1 in three starts, pitching to a 3.32 ERA, allowing seven runs on seven hits with five walks over 19.0 innings…Will make his first career Postseason start against the Blue Jays.
• He owns a 1-0 record in seven starts at Dodger Stadium this year, pitching to a 1.71 ERA with four walks and 30 strikeouts through 21.0 innings.
• Opponents are hitting just .151 with 11 total hits against Ohtani at home…Did not concede a double or triple, and conceded just two home runs on the year while pitching at Dodger Stadium.
• Ohtani made his first career pitching appearance with the Dodgers on June 16th.
• Started 14 games, ending the season with a 1-1 record, 2.87 ERA, nine walks and 62 strikeouts.
• He became the 10th Japanese-born player to take the mound for the Dodgers in franchise history.
• His start on June 16th paired with his 109 home runs in a Dodgers uniform, surpassed Don Drysdale’s previous record of 29 home runs with the Club by a player with at least one start on the mound.
• In Game 4 of the NLCS, struck out 10.
• Ohtani is the only player in history to record 19-or more strikeouts and allow less than five hits in his first two career Postseason starts.
• Freddie Freeman ended the game with a walk-off home run to begin the 18th inning, marking the 64th walk-off win in World Series history and the first since Freeman ‘walk-off grand slam in Game 1 last year.
• It was the sixth time ever that the Dodgers won a World Series game in walk-off fashion.
• Freeman, who also hit a walk-off single in Game 1 of the 2020 NL Wild Card Series for Atlanta, is the third player in Postseason history with three career walk-offs, joining Hall of Famer David Ortiz and Carlos Correa.
• According to Elias, Freeman is one of nine players in Baseball history with multiple Postseason walk-offs.
• Freeman now has a .745 slugging percentage in his World Series career, the third-highest mark trailing only George Springer (.761) and Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson (.755).
• Vladimir Guerrero Jr this Postseason is hitting .414/.493/.776 with six homers, 12 RBI and a 1.269 OPS.
• Guerrero’s six homers are the most in a single Postseason in Blue Jays history and are tied with Joe Carter and José Bautista for the most career Postseason homers in Toronto history.
• His 24 hits in the 2025 Postseason are the most in a single Postseason in Blue Jays history, surpassing Hall of Famer Paul Molitor’s 21 hits in 1993.
• Shohei Ohtani reached base nine times in Game 3, setting a Postseason record, surpassing the previous mark of six by Kerry Carpenter (2025 ALDS G5); Kenny Lofton (1995 WS G3); and Stan Hack (1945 WS G6).
• He became the second player all-time with four extra base hits in a single World Series game.
• Ohtani is the first player in Postseason history with multiple home runs, multiple doubles and multiple walks in a single game and just the second player ever to reach those marks in Baseball history, joining Jim Edmonds, who achieved the feat in the regular season on June 28, 2003.
• He became the first player to be issued four intentional walks in a Postseason game.
• There have been home runs by 15 players who hit a home run in a World Series game in which he pitched. The last player to hit a home run as a pitcher in a World Series game was Joe Blanton for Philadelphia in Game 4 of the 2008 Fall Classic.
