Pull up a chair, in Game 3 of the World Series, the Dodgers and Blue Jays are tied at a game apiece and Max Scherzer, “Mad Max”, returns to the mound for the Blue Jays, hoping to outdo, Tyler Glasgow, the Dodgers starting pitcher.

• The winner of the third game of the World Series has gone on to win the Fall Classic 78 times (65.0%). That has been the case in five of the last eight, 13 of the last 21 and 28 of the last 43 World Series beginning in 1981.

• This year marks the 63rd time the Fall Classic is tied at 1-1, and the 61st time under the current best-of-seven format.

• Of the 63 World Series to be even at a game apiece, the team winning Game 3 has gone on to win the World Series 42 times (66.7%).

• The Dodgers are 30-29 all-time in Game 3 of a Postseason Series, including 20-13 in Game 3 of a best-of-seven series overall, and 13-9 in Game 3 of the World Series.

• The Blue Jays are 8-5 all-time in Game 3 of a Postseason series, including 6-4 in Game 3 of a best-of-seven series overall, and 2-0 in Game 3 of the Fall Classic.

• Dave Roberts has led the Dodgers to the World Series for the fifth time since becoming manager in 2016.

• When Shohei Ohtani faces Max Scherzer tonight, it will mark the second time ever that a three-time Cy Young Award winner and three-time MVP square off in the World Series, joining Pedro Martinez and Alex Rodriguez in 2009.

• Scherzer has made one start this Postseason, earning the win in Game 4 of the ALCS over the Mariners.

• Scherzer threw 5.2 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, four walks and struck out five.

• He will face Los Angeles for the 24th time in his career and the second time this season after previously facing them in August.

• Scherzer has faced the Dodgers as a member of the Diamondbacks, Tigers, Nationals, Mets and Blue Jays.

• He is 5-6 with a 2.38 ERA in 17 starts and two relief appearances in the regular season…is 1-1 with a 2.70 ERA across three starts and one relief appearance in the Postseason.

• He went 2-4 with a 5.91 ERA across seven starts away from Rogers Centre this year.

• Scherzer is in his 18th Major League season and first with the Blue Jays on March 29th.

• He now has 114 career 10-strikeout games which are third-most in Baseball history behind only Hall of Famers Nolan Ryan (215 G) and Randy Johnson (212 G).

• With his Game 3 start, Scherzer will become the seventh pitcher aged 41-or-over to make a start in the World Series, and the first pitcher to do so since 45-year-old Jamie Moyer started Game 3 of the 2008 World Series as a member of the Phillies..

• Scherzer will make his 32nd Postseason appearance (27th start) in Game 3.

• Among active pitchers, only Clayton Kershaw (40 appearances, 32 starts) and Justin Verlander (38 appearances, 37 starts) have appeared more in the Postseason.

• Among all active pitchers, Scherzer has made a Postseason appearance on the most teams, appearing with the Tigers, Dodgers, Mets, Rangers, Nationals and Blue Jays.

• Tyler Glasnow has made two starts and one relief appearance this Postseason, allowing one run on seven hits with eight walks and 18 strikeouts.

• Glasnow pitched the seventh and eighth innings of Game 1 of the NLDS against Philadelphia, started Game 4 of the NLDS and started Game 3 of the NLCS against Milwaukee.

• He will face Toronto for the 13th time in his career and second time this year after previously facing them in August.

• Has faced the Blue Jays 11 times in the regular season, going 1-4 while pitching to a 5.82 ERA over 51.0 innings.

• Glasnow went 3-2 in 11 games pitching at Dodger Stadium this year with an ERA of 2.77.

• Allowed 19 earned runs with 20 walks and 80 strikeouts over his 61.2 innings at home.

• Glasnow’s Game 3 start will mark the 13th Postseason start of his career.

• Previously made 10 Postseason starts as a member of the Rays from 2019-23 and most recently started Game 4 of the NLDS and Game 3 of the NLCS as a member of the Dodgers.

• He struck out eight batters in 5.2 innings of work in Game 3, allowing a run on three hits with three walks but did not factor into the decision.

• According to each club’s World Series Roster, at age 41.089, Max Scherzer is the oldest player in this year’s Fall Classic. Separated by 19 years, Trey Yesavage (22.088) is the youngest player in this year’s World Series.

• At age 37.219 Clayton Kershaw is the oldest member of the Dodgers with Roki Sasaki (23.355) coming in as the youngest on Los Angeles’ roster.

• With a single in the second inning of Game 2, Ernie Clement extended his hitting streak to eight games.

• Clement is now hitting .429 this Postseason, tied with Hall of Famer Gary Carter (1981) among players with at least 40 plate appearances in a single Postseason.

• Clement’s 21 hits this Postseason are tied with Hall of Famer Paul Molitor (1993) for the second most in a single Postseason by a Blue Jays player behind only Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

• Freddie Freeman has reached base safely in each of the Dodgers’ 12 games this Postseason, marking the longest on base streak of any player in the Majors this October.

• Since Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s complete game in Game 2 of the Fall Classic, the Dodgers rotation continues to dominate this Postseason. Dodgers starters are 10-2 with a 1.84 ERA (16 ER/78.1 IP), 93 strikeouts, and .152 opponents’ batting average.

• Among clubs with at least 10 games in a single Postseason, the Dodgers 1.84 ERA is the fourth-lowest all-time, trailing only the 1996 Braves (1.59); the 1981 Expos (1.59); and the 2018 Brewers (1.64).
